On Friday ,10th December 2010, our Ashton in Makerfield office which trades under Ashton Accident Claims(AAC) were the proud sponsors of the Makerfield Labour Party Annual Dinner. The event was held at the Wigan Town Hall. There was a strong representation from this firm including myself,Louise Ryan (Head of Practice and Finance),Davinya Scott(Acting Head of Road Traffic Accident Department) and Mark Johnson (Head of Personal Injury).
The guest speaker at the event was the Rt Hon Hilary Benn MP with whom I had an interesting discussion concerning Lord Jackson's proposed reforms and their likely impact on the personal injury market and injury lawyers generally . Mark Johnson explained to a number of the members of the CLP that Ashton Accident Claims specialises in not just road traffic accident claims but also all forms of workplace accidents and industrial disease claims.
Even though the office in Ashton in Makerfield has only been open for just under three months we have already accepted a number of personal injury compensation claims after considering the many enquiries received from the general public in the local community in Ashton and from neighbouring areas such as Goldborne ,Abram and Hindley .
I had a chat with Yvonne Fovargue MP for Makerfield regarding the challenges and difficulties facing personal injury lawyers fighting for compensation for our injured clients following the abolition of legal aid many years ago and how the introduction of the "no win no fee" funding arrangements have changed the landscape of pursuing accident claims in this country. I would like to thank the Makerfield Labour Party for their kind invitation and for what was a very enjoyable evening.
